【注 1】ten(或twenty)to one 和 two to one 是英語慣用語，都作“十之八九”講，用於對某一事物的估計，表示“幾乎”、“必定”等含義。

例如：

It is ten to one that she will be late. 十之八九她要遲到。

【注 2】在體育比賽場合下說“two to five”，就不能理解為2到5，而應理解為2比5。有時口語中 to 還可省略，但說時中間有停頓。
