good morning ladies and gentlemen:
the title of my speech today is “the doors that are open to us ”。
the other day my aunt paid me a visit. she was overjoyed. “i got thehighest mark in the mid-term examination!” she said. don't be surprised! my auntis indeed a student; to be exact, a college student at the age of 45.
last year, she put aside her private business and signed up for a one-year,full-time management course in a college. “this was the wisest decision i haveever made,” she said proudly like a teenage girl. to her, college is always aright place to pick up new ideas, and new ideas always make her feel young.
“compared with the late 70s,” she says, “now college students have manydoors.” my aunt cannot help but recall her first college experience in 1978 whencollege doors began to be re-opened after the cultural revolution. she wasassigned to study engineering despite her desire to study chinese literature,and a few years later, the government sent her to work in a tv factory.
i was shocked when she first told me how she (had) had no choice in hermajor and job. look at us today! so many doors are open to us! i believe therehave never been such abundant opportunities for self-development as we havetoday. and my aunt told me that we should reach our goals by grasping all theseopportunities.
the first door i see is the opportunity to study different kinds ofsubjects that interest us. my aunt said she was happy to study management, butshe was also happy that she could attend lectures on ancient chinese poetry andon shakespearean drama. as for myself, i am an english major, but i may also goto lectures on history. to me, if college education in the past emphasizedspecialization, now, it emphasizes free and well-rounded development of eachindividual. so all the fine achievements of human civilization are open tous.
the second door is the door to the outside world. learning goes beyondclassrooms and national boundaries. my aunt remembers her previous college daysas monotonous and even calls her generation “frogs in a well.” but today, as theworld becomes a global village, it is important that our neighbors and we beopen-minded to learn with and from each other. i have many fellow internationalclassmates, and i am applying to an exchange program with a university for my aunt, she is planning to get an mba degree in the united kingdom whereher daughter, my cousin, is now doing her master's degree in biochemistry. weare now taking the opportunity to study overseas, and when we come back, we'llput to use what we have learnt abroad.
the third door is the door to lifelong learning. as new ideas appear allthe time, we always need to acquire new knowledge, regardless of our rally, my aunt herself is the best example. many of my aunt's contemporariessay that she is amazingly up-to-date for a middle-aged woman. she simplyresponds, “age doesn't matter. what matters is your attitude. you may think it'sstrange that i am still going to college, but i don't think i'm too old tolearn.” yes, she is right. since the government removed the age limit forcollege admissions in _, there are already some untraditional students, sittingwith us in the same classrooms. like these people, my aunt is old but she isvery young in spirit. with her incredible energy and determination, she embodiesboth tradition and modernity.
the doors open to us also pose challenges. for instance, we are faced withthe challenge of a balanced learning, the challenge of preserving our finetradition while learning from the west, and the challenge of learningcontinuously while carrying heavy responsibilities to our work and family. so,each door is a test of our courage, ability and judgment, but with the supportof my teachers, parents, friends and my aunt, i believe i can meet the challengehead on. when i reach my aunt's age, i can be proud to say that i have walkedthrough dozens of doors and will, in the remainder of my life, walk through manymore. possibly i will go back to college, too.

Class 7. WFLS. Am I too late to say it’s just like a dream come true?
Quite frankly, military training is tiring. I’ve been told a million times about how exhausted I would be as soon as I finished this grueling training, and I don’t have any objection about that. However, now, I’ve got an Yes and No! I mean, physically,Yes, I have sun-tanned skin right now and for the first time I loathe being under the sun. Not to mention my sore legs and back. But this is just the heads of the coin. Tails, which means mentally, No! My inability to find proper words to express my feelings seems more and more overwhelming. Incredible? Unbelievable? Marvellous? Extremely impeccable maybe? These words are pale in comparison to the big picture of my future life. It’s like unwittingly, you fall in love with a new group of people, you feel for everything, you fall for everything.
I don’t know if I am being sensitive here. I remember us sprint out the door to assemble because we are running late. I remember us complaining about the miserable food when it’s time for lunch. I remember us sitting weirdly comfortable in a cool dark place when other classes were sweating. I remember us sharing jaw-dropping details about our lives and feel connected to others. I remember all those moments of rapture and ecstasy, all those senses of déjà vu, all those smiles of genuine happiness.
It’s like suddenly, I am no longer a prosaic girl living a plain life. It’s been a long time since the last time I didn’t regard myself as a catastrophe. As a lonely strong hope for the future made me the girl on fire. As I spoke with some friends of my pastimes and passions, words of such silky texture poured out from my soul with unparalleled candor and cadence. The voice that issued from my lips was at once richer, deeper, stronger than I had ever produced. It was as though an inner self, a core essence, had broken free and taken control. I broke out of my niche!
Anyway, I shouldn’t be too excited because it’s just five days. Even though I have already found some friends with extraordinarily similar interests as I do. Even though this is breaking news for me because I enjoyed be in this together finally. Even though the words of encouragements faded, I still recall them from time to time to taste it all over again. I swear I’m not severed from reality. Momentarily, it’s just impossible to describe all the details that happened during 5 days. I just need to speak all these things about how delighted I am to be in this class and try to be in tranquility…
I am a relatively total stranger to my new school. But it’s such a sensory bombardment for me even to think about it. I wanna be a part of something I don’t know. A fledging dragonfly is ready. I believe that the monarch will be crowned. May the best man win! You are gonna hear Class 7 ROAR!

Money is very important for us but is not the most important things in things are more important than money ,such as friendship ,love ,andfamily ,and so on can use money to buy many things but for people's ple only care the money ,which is very ually,he will lose manythings that is more important than last,he will become lonely.
Sometimes money can let many people gather and make friends with ver,you have to know they may be not your true friends and they just wantyou money.A true friend never care whether his friend is poor or rich.A firendin need is a friend ng some sincere friends is the truehappiness.
Anyway,money can solve lots of problems but it can't bring you happinessbecause it can't buy a true se remember that some things in the worldis don't live only for money.
Recently our class has conducted a survey about “The Growth of Post-90's Generation". People have different opinions on it. Most people believe the post-90’s generation have an edge
over/are superior to others in that they are more independent in thinking, more ambitious, more confident and more enthusiastic. They are open to new ideas and ready to try new things, therefore, they are usually better informed. communicate. However, some argue that the post-90's generation are much too dependent on their parents or on teachers and they lack social experience. As a result, they are less able to overcome frustration. They do not focus on their studies as much and lack the sense of responsibility. Moreover, Besides, they cherish friendship and like to
they are weak in controlling themselves and often show no respect for others. As youth born in the 90s, we should be aware of our and responsibilities, and learn to be more independent. Only in this way can we be successful in the future.

Everyone has a beautiful dream and personal life on the waythat we hunt for the keys of acheving our dreams,there are many difficultiesappearing,thus,several timid men give in to them,one after another,some peaplelost their first dreams and even !Many characters and pretty orhandsome stars around us,we are obesessed with some of those,and even ad occeanof peaple volunteer to imitate those ver,as we turn back,we will findin surprise,the tree is still the old tree,the house is still,verything is still the didn`t change them a little.
The same as our competitions,teachers always say:"You`d better read moreessays and memorize some perfect or wonderful sentenses,it`s helpful for yourwriting level."Well!I don`t think so! Personally,I feel we must keep on ourstyles and priciple,due to this,when readers read our essays,they might learnabout us better,therefore we will become happier to make the life colorful ,I support that we read more books,rather than recite moreessays.
Being true to yourself implies if you are delighted,then you laugh,if youare sad,then you cry,don`t hide your mood,do not be on yourdream which is deep in your hear. in our daily lives, we have many choices to make, such as what to eat for supper,what clothes to wear, or what to do on weekends. at certain times in our lives, we need to make even more critical choices, such as which school to attend, what job to take or who to choose as husband or wife. yes, life is a matter of choice. seemimgly, it means a choice of tangible things. but in essence, it means choosing a way of life. life is to be lived, savored, and enjoyed, not to be wasted or complained about.
hardly can we forget the time when our society faced the grave threat from the life-and-death disease--sars. yet, even during those dreadful times, some afflicted people remained optimistic. instead of wearing neutral white masks, some people turned to colouful ones, and thus display a happy mood. and some creative people dubbed sars to mean "smile and remain smiling." i was deeply touched by their optimisim, nearly forgetting that we're still in a battle. people who survive these kinds of circumstances, (at some point)decide in their minds to carry on in spite of the overwhelming odds.
laid-off workers, typically regarded as the victims of economic advancement, are subject to desperation that being unmeployed has brought on them. but, encouragingly, we have witnessed some of them striving hard to rebuild confidence toward life and discover new opportunities for demonstrating their values.
although we cannot choose our appearance, inborn gifts and even avoid unexpected disasters and adversities, we do have the privilege to choose to live optimistcally,to love our lives, to have dreams, and to cherish hopes.
every morning when we get up, we have a choice of how we want to approach life that day. as for me, i choose to be cheerful.
日常生活中,我們會面臨各種各樣的選擇,像是晚餐吃什麼,穿什麼或是如何度週末。而在人生中的特定階段,我們需要做出更多關鍵性的抉擇,例如教育,職業或者人生伴侶。生活就意味著一種選擇。這種選擇看似是對具體事物的判斷,但歸根究底,是一種生活方式的選擇。任何無味的抱怨和虛度光陰只會帶來乏味,生活的美需要細心品嚐,用心體會。
如今回想起那段籠罩在sars陰影下的日子依然心有餘悸。但即便在那樣令人沮喪的日子裡,備受折磨的人們也始終保持著樂觀。為傳遞一種歡快的情緒,大家換上了色彩繽紛的口罩。而那些富有創造力的人則把sars解釋為"笑口常開"。他們對待生活的樂觀態度深深打動了我,幾乎讓我忘記我們還身處在沒有硝煙的戰場。其實,正是堅持不懈,堅忍不拔的精神引領人們走出了逆境。
被看做經濟發展犧牲品的廣大下崗職工在面對生存壓力時,特別容易陷入絕望當中。但別人欣慰的是,我們看到越來越多的這個群體中的成員重建了對生活的信心,並重新立足於社會以實現自己的價值。
儘管容貌和天資都是上蒼給予,而人生旅途中的坎坷與荊棘我們也無法預計,那就讓我們熱愛生命,擁有夢想,珍惜希望吧。
每日清晨夢醒,我們都被賦予了選擇生活的權利。而我會讓一切從愉快開始。
