good morning ladies and gentlemen. today i’m very glad to be here with youto share my stories and opinions about reading. i love reading from the bottomof my heart. and i do learn a lot from books. i know the wonderful stories ofgreat heroes in history, secrets of nature, mysteries of ufo and our me , books are like a faithful friend, always around me , giving me enjoymentand wisdom.
i remember when i was in primary school, ten or eleven years old, my fatherborrowed some books from the library in his school. those were among thegreatest works of the world, including abrabian nights、the legend ofdeification, journey to the west, and the romance of the three kingdoms. thesebooks were all written in ancient chinese characters but i tried to read theheavy books and were deeply attracted. from then on, i spared every minute toread whatever i could get. whenever i got a new book, i kept reading until ifinished it despite time and place. i read books even in class or just a fewminutes before the exams. in my mind, there is always an unforgettable scene:lying in bed, nervous but excited, my friend and i read a book together in theweak light of a flashlight , with a quilt on us, in order not to be blamed byparents. all my classmates thought i was crazy and gave me a nickname“bookworm”. so you can understand why i got my eyes shortsighted.
till now, i still like reading as i used to. and i’m very pleased to seethat my ten-year-old son loves reading just like me. i have bought him manybooks. whenever you come into my home, you can find books in every corner. butthe place where my son and i enjoy reading most is in the toilet. so it oftenhappens in the morning: one is in the toilet reading something comfortably,while another walking outside , shouting. for my age, i like to read magazinesor short stories to get relaxation as well as inspiration.
today we live in a world of prosperity. never before have we faced so manytemptation from the outside world. never before have we had so many chances toenjoy our lives. we drive rather than walking; we go online to chat with peoplewe’ve never met before instead of talking to friends around us. but there’salways something that cannot be replaced and forgotten., such as books. so iwill allow myself to continue the journey in the ocean of books until the veryend of my life.
finally, i’d like to end my speech with a great philosopher, writer andthinker, francis bacon’s famous saying: reading makes a full man. studies servefor delight, for ornament, and for ability.

it's generally considered that reading do a lot of benefit to only can it make our after-school life more meaningful and l,but itcan expand our a result,with reading more,we would grow into abetter person.
however, in current days,many of us spend most of the leisure time inplaying games or surfing the internet,instead of reading. it's a pity to find itless and less our students are interesting in reading,or have formed a habit ofreading.
so,in order to revive reading,this beneficial activity,we'd better takeaction right 's read together,learn together and grow !

As the development of the world, there is more and more entertainment forpeople to kill time. Reading used to be an important amusement. But now thereare less and less people fond of reading. But there are still a large number ofpeople stand on the side of reading. For me, I think reading is very reasons are as following.

First of all, reading can broaden our vision. The main way we learn thethings happen long time ago is according to the book. People will try their bestto write the things in their stage in their way. When we read books, we have theopportunity to learn everything. The content in the books contains the knowledgeall over the world and every aspect. We can read the knowledge about biography,science, technology, culture, economic and so on from the book. It is hard notto broaden vision from reading.
首先，閱讀可以開闊我們的視野。我們瞭解很久以前發生的事情的主要方式是通過閱讀。人們用他們自己的方式儘自己最大的努力寫關於他們那個年代的事情。我們看書的時候，我們才有機會了解到一切。書中的內容包含知識的方方面面。通過書籍我們可以瞭解到關於傳記，科學，技術，文化，經濟等方面的知識。從閱讀中，我們的視野很難不被拓寬。
Secondly, reading can cultivate our taste. I am sure that reading someelegant sentence or the beautiful things described in the book will make us feelrelax and comfortable. And we all know that the more knowledge a person has, thebetter-behaved he will be. I think this is the charming of reading. If there aremore people like reading, the world will become more civilized.

The importance mentioned above just a part of reading. It has so manyadvantages that I can’t list all in a short time. It is irreplaceable in humanbeings’ life.

I think reading is important in the whole life for people. There are manybenefits of reading. Firstly, reading increases our knowledge and we can learnthe world affairs without going out. Secondly, reading is a good way to improvereading and writing skills. Before you learn to write, you must know how otherswrite. Thirdly, reading can broaden our knowledge and horizon, which isimportant to job hunting in the future. Finally, reading helps us becomeself-cultivation that would be beneficial to our whole life. when i'm free or in trouble, i always take out a book and read quietly. inno time, i've put my heart into it so that i'll forget all the troubles. it's inthis way that i've formed the habit of reading in any time.

watching english dvd movies is a very effective method of learning english.i learnt english at college at home. as a natural result of insufficient englishspeaking environment, my speaking and listening abilities were not developedsatisfactorily, although my reading and writing abilities were quite all right.i remember my experience during a summer vacation when i made plans to watch 10original english movies (i mean those not dubbed.) including the classiccasablanca, rebecca, a tale of two cities, and little women.
i persistently carried out my plan and each of the films i watched a dozentimes until i could recite most of the dialogues. at the end of that summervacation, i found i became nearly as fluent as a native english speaker.
the ways of reading(讀書之法)
we may obtain knowledge by reading. the more books we read, the more weaccumulate the knowledge. is it right? i don’t think so. it’s not wide readingbut useful reading that leads to excellence. and only good books can benefitus.
so choosing books is very important for reading. many students spend a lotof time reading legends and swordsman novels. it’s a waste of time. somestudents even read some bad books and it is harmful for them.
so be as careful of the books we read, as of the company we keep, for ourhabit and character will be as much influenced by the former as by thelatter.

看英語電影是學英語的一個非常有效的方法。我在大學學習英語在家裡。自然由於沒有良好的英語環境,我的口語和聽力能力不發達令人滿意,雖然我的閱讀和寫作能力很好。我記得我的經驗在暑假當我計劃看10原版英語電影(我指的是那些不被稱為。),包括經典的卡薩布蘭卡,麗貝卡,雙城記,小女子。

Knowledge can be acquired from many sources. These include books, teachersand practical experience, and each has its own advantages. The knowledge we gainfrom books and formal education enables us to learn about things that we have noopportunity to experience in daily life. We can study all the places in theworld and learn from people we will never meet in our lifetime, just by readingabout them in books. We can also develop our analytical skills and learn how toview and interpret the world around us in different ways. Furthermore, we canlearn from the past by reading books. In this way, we won’t repeat the mistakesof others and can build on their achievements.
Practical experience, on the other hand, can give us more useful is said that one learns best by doing, and I believe that this is true,whether one is successful or not. In fact, I think making mistakes is the bestway to learn. Moreover, if one wants to make new advances, it is necessary toact. Innovations do not come about through reading but through lly, one can apply the skills and insights gained through the study of booksto practical experience, making an already meaningful experience moremeaningful. However, unless it is applied to real experiences, book knowledgeremains theoretical and, in the end, is useless.
