as we know, we have lots of festivals, such as spring festival(春節), lantern festival(元宵節), tomb-sweeping day(清明節), dragon boat festival(端午節), mid-autumn (moon)festival(中秋節), double-ninth day(重陽節), new year's eve(除夕)and so on.

as for me, i likenew year's eve the most, because only in that daycan itake a party forall of my friends. we talk with each other sincerely, and we drink heartily(盡情地)。i enjoy this process very much。

between chinese traditional festivals and western festivals, i prefer the the former. because chinese festivals contain our traditional culture, we must inherit and develop(繼承和發展) it.

recently, more and more chinese would rather to celebrate the foreign festivals, such as christmas day, easter(復活節),thanksgiving(感恩節),saint valentine's day(情人節),halloween(萬聖節)and so on .

i think christmas day would not replace our spring festival. because spring festival is our culture and era of faith(信仰).

in order to protect and develop our traditional festivals, i think

government should take more steps todraw people’s attention. for example, give people more vacation in traditional festivals and pay attention to traditional culture education

as the development of our society, we are all under heavy pressure because of fierce competition, fast-paced lifestyles, and etc. everyday we may face some kind of stress and difficulties from work, school or family. some people think working under pressure keeps us motivated. maybe a little pressure is good for us, but too much pressure is not beneficial to us. in recent years, there has been an increase in stress-related diseases amony college and high-school students.

how to alleviate our pressure in an effective way? how to weaken the effects of stress?

firstly, exercise regularly. physical activity plays a key role in reducing and preventing the effects of stress. make time for at least 30 minutes of exercise, three times per week.

second, eat a healthy diet. well-nourished bodies are better prepared to cope with stress, so be mindful of what you eat.

three, get enough sleep. adequate sleep fuels your mind, as well as your body. feeling tired will increase your stress because it may cause you to think irrationally.

besides, i think that communication can help to reduce the pressure. when people share their worries with others, they will feel less stressed. at that same time, approprite encouragement will also stimulate people to work harder and feel better. for example, when feeling depressed because of the failure in an exam, i often choose to talk with my friends and

parents because they will comfort me, and i will be full of hope again.

also, listening to the gentle music or rock music is a good way to reduce our stress.

in a word, people can use different ways according to different yone can find the best way that is suitable for himself

Ladies and gentlemen

the first time i saw bao was in , the year when thomas and uber cup was held. at that time he was playing against li zongwei, who is also a good player from malaysia. bao beat him. to tell the truth, at first the reason why i liked him was just because i thought he was pretty.*(maybe it is not a suitable word, but i think no better word can describe him, he is really pretty!) from that time, i have focused on him. then gradually, i found that he not only has good appearance, but also has a talent for badminton.

he is very tall, about 1.90 meters. he is the tallest one among all the players in the chinese badminton team. in , he is chosen as the flag holder stands for china in the opening ceremony in the 15th asian games held in doha. it was the first time that the badminton players were chosen to take over the special task, before which time, it belonged to the basketball players. it was a great honor. and it also proved that bao was an excellent athlete. we are all proud of him.

he began to play badminton when he was at primary school. in , he won his first good medal, which was significant to him, in guangzhou. because of that, he entered the chinese badminton team. as he is as old as lin dan, who is the top one in the world, he is always put into a situation which is not good to him. he seldom beats lin dan, so he gained a name which is called’. in fact, his techniques are comprehensive, but he is lack of passion, the desire to win is not so strong. so he always has misplays. due to this, he seldom wins the gold medal. i think this is related to his character. he is easygoing and couth; he looks as if he will never get angry with anybody. so this affects him while he is playing badminton. in a period of time, critical voice has come towards him. he is under great pressure. he was not in the best state. but recently he cheers up again. several days ago, the chinese badminton championship was held in guangzhou. i went to see him on saturday. i was very excited, and i shouted loudly, hoping he could hear me. there is no doubt that he won the game. before he went away, he waved hand to us, how excited i was at that time! the next day, he beat li zongwei again and he won the man’s single gold medal. all of us are very happy. after 7 years, which could be a long time for an athlete, he proved himself again in guangzhou, which is considered as his lucky place.

i think this will be the energy of his advancing. and i hope he can keep this fighting will and win the gold medal in the 29th olympic games held in beijing!

best wishes!

A Brother Like That A Brother Like That A friend of mine named Paul received an automobile from his brother as a Christmas present. On Christmas Eve when Paul came out of his office, a street urchin was walking around the shiny new car, admiring it. "Is this your car, Mister?"

he said. Paul nodded. "My brother gave it to me for Christmas."

The boy was astounded. "You mean your brother gave it to you and it didn’t cost you nothing? Boy, I wish . . ."

He hesitated. Of course Paul knew what he was going to wish for. He was going to wish he had a brother like that. But what the lad said jarred Paul all the way down to his heels. "I wish,"

the boy went on, "That I could be a brother like that."

Paul looked at the boy in astonishment, then impulsively he added, "Would you like to take a ride in my car?"

"Oh yes, Id love that."

After a short ride, the boy turned with his eyes aglow, said, "Mister, would you mind driving in front of my house?"

Paul smiled a little. He thought he knew what the lad wanted. He wanted to show his neighbors that he could ride home in a big automobile. But Paul was wrong again. "Will you stop where those two steps are?"

the boy asked. He ran up the steps. Then in a little while Paul heard him coming back, but he was not coming fast. He was carrying his little crippled brother. He sathim down on the bottom step, then sort of squeezed up against him and pointed to the car. "There she is, Buddy, just like I told you upstairs. His brother gave it to him for Christmas and it didn’t cost him a cent. And some day Im gonna give you one just like it . . . then you can see for yourself all the pretty things in the Christmas windows that Ive been trying to tell you about."

Paul got out and lifted the lad to the front seat of his car. The shining-eyed older brother climbed in beside him and the three of them began a memorable holiday ride. That Christmas Eve, Paul learned what Jesus meant when he said: "It is more blessed to give . . . "

中文譯文;

The past two days are special for the 7.23 million examinees and their parents. It is the National College Entrance Examination (Gaokao in Chinese). Based on the current education system in China, the result of the two day exam greatly impacts the future of any students in China. The score will decide whether you can receive college education. For most places in China, only half of the students are eligible for college education (only 3.40 million will be admitted to colleges in 2019) and the rest has to start work after high-school. In cities like Beijing and Shanghai, students are lucky enough to have a much higher ratio (more than 70%) to enter colleges.

Tsinghua, Peking University, Fudan University and Shanghai Jiao Tong University are among the first class in China. But only very few people can go there.

To enter a college or not, or to enter a good college or not directly impact the first offer they can get after graduate and impact their career. So it is the most critical time for students.

Isaac recorded the "No Honking During Gaokao" sign. I saw the same sign near Henan Rd. and Zhaojiabang Rd.. Not only honking is not allowed. All construction sites around schools were ordered to work in limited time in the recent 10 days. Thousands of policemen are working around schools to make sure there is no noise or traffic jam during the two important days. Taxi drivers even offer free ride to transport examinees and their family.

Our character, basically, is a composite of our habits. “Sow a thought, reap an action; sow an action, reap a habit; sow a habit, reap a character; sow a character, reap a destiny,” the maxim goes.

Habits are powerful factors in our lives. Because they are consistent, often unconscious patterns, they constantly, daily, express our character and produce our effectiveness or ineffectiveness.

As Horace Mann, the great educator, once said, “Habits are like a cable. We weave a strand of it everyday and soon it cannot be broken.” I personally do not agree with the last part of his expression. I know habits can be learned and unlearned. But I also know it isn't a quick fix. It involves a process and a tremendous commitment.

Those of us who watched the lunar voyage of Apollo 11 were transfixed as we saw the first men walk on the moon and return to earth. But to get there, those astronauts literally had to break out of the tremendous gravity pull of the earth. More energy was spent in the first few minutes of lift-off, in the first few miles of travel, than was used over the next several days to travel half a million miles.

Habits, too, have tremendous gravity pull- more than most people realize or would admit. Breaking deeply imbedded habitual tendencies such as procrastination, impatience, criticalness, or selfishness that violate basic principles of human effectiveness involves more than a little willpower and a few minor changes in our lives. “Lift off” takes a tremendous effort, but once we break out of the gravity pull, our freedom takes on a whole new dimension.

Like any natural force, gravity pull can work with us or against us. The gravity pull of some of our habits may currently be keeping us from going where we want to go. But it is also gravity pull that keeps our world together, that keeps the planets in their orbits and our universe in order. It is a powerful force, and if we use it effectively, we can use the gravity pull of habit to create the cohesiveness and order necessary to establish effectiveness in our lives.

have you ever Dreamt of being in the movies? maybe you're a bit of a thespian? but what if you don't have matinee-idol looks? well, if you're creative and write well you could make your mark in hollywood as a screenwriter instead.

tony gilroy is one of hollywood's most sought-after screenwriters, with blockbusters such as the devil's advocate, armageddon and the bourne identity under his belt.

his advice to budding screenwriters is to make stuff up but keep it real. gilroy believes knowing about human behaviour is the deal-breaker. according to him, "the quality of your writing will be directly related to your understanding of human behaviour".

he says: "you need to become a journalist for the movie that is in your head. you need to report on it; every scene has to be real."

gilroy also thinks you've got to start with a very small idea that you can build on. for example, the bourne films are based on novels by the writer robert ludlum, but gilroy says he didn't actually read them. instead he created a world around the character of jason bourne, a spy who has lost his memory and tries to discover his own identity.

gilroy says: "the smallest thing with bourne was, 'if i don't know who i am and i don't know where i'm from, perhaps i can identify who i am by what i know how to do'. we built a whole new world around that small idea."

in short, he explains: "you just start small, you build out and you move one step after the next and that's how you write a hollywood movie".

one thing a screenwriter can't do without though, is a thick skin. you've got to learn how to handle rejection. even when you're successful. gilory was nominated for an Oscar for his script for michael clayton, starring george clooney. but the 20xx award in that category went to brook busey-maurio, for her debut script for the film juno.

so, do you think you have what it takes to consider a career in the movies?

Look, I had second thoughts, really, about whether I could talk about this to such a vital and alive audience as you guys. Then I remembered the quote from Gloria Steinem, which goes, "The truth will set you free, but first it will piss you off." (Laughter) So -- (Laughter)

So with that in mind, I'm going to set about trying to do those things here, and talk about dying in the 21st century. Now the first thing that will piss you off, undoubtedly, is that all of us are, in fact, going to die in the 21st century. There will be no exceptions to that. There are, apparently, about one in eight of you who think you're immortal, on surveys, but -- (Laughter) Unfortunately, that isn't going to happen.

While I give this talk, in the next 10 minutes, a hundred million of my cells will die, and over the course of today, 2,000 of my brain cells will die and never come back, so you could argue that the dying process starts pretty early in the piece.

Anyway, the second thing I want to say about dying in the 21st century, apart from it's going to happen to everybody, is it's shaping up to be a bit of a train wreck for most of us, unless we do something to try and reclaim this process from the rather inexorable trajectory that it's currently on.

So there you go. That's the truth. No doubt that will piss you off, and now let's see whether we can set you free. I don't promise anything. Now, as you heard in the intro, I work in intensive care, and I think I've kind of lived through the heyday of intensive care. It's been a ride, man. This has been fantastic. We have machines that go ping. There's many of them up there. And we have some wizard technology which I think has worked really well, and over the course of the time I've worked in intensive care, the death rate for males in Australia has halved, and intensive care has had something to do with that. Certainly, a lot of the technologies that we use have got something to do with that.

So we have had tremendous success, and we kind of got caught up in our own success quite a bit, and we started using expressions like "lifesaving." I really apologize to everybody for doing that, because obviously, we don't. What we do is prolong people's lives, and delay death, and redirect death, but we can't, strictly speaking, save lives on any sort of permanent basis.

And what's really happened over the period of time that I've been working in intensive care is that the people whose lives we started saving back in the '70s, '80s, and '90s, are now coming to die in the 21st century of diseases that we no longer have the answers to in quite the way we did then.

So what's happening now is there's been a big shift in the way that people die, and most of what they're dying of now isn't as amenable to what we can do as what it used to be like when I was doing this in the '80s and '90s.

So we kind of got a bit caught up with this, and we haven't really squared with you guys about what's really happening now, and it's about time we did. I kind of woke up to this bit in the late '90s when I met this guy. This guy is called Jim, Jim Smith, and he looked like this. I was called down to the ward to see him. His is the little hand. I was called down to the ward to see him by a respiratory physician. He said, "Look, there's a guy down here. He's got pneumonia, and he looks like he needs intensive care. His daughter's here and she wants everything possible to be done." Which is a familiar phrase to us. So I go down to the ward and see Jim, and his skin his translucent like this. You can see his bones through the skin. He's very, very thin, and he is, indeed, very sick with pneumonia, and he's too sick to talk to me, so I talk to his daughter Kathleen, and I say to her, "Did you and Jim ever talk about what you would want done if he ended up in this kind of situation?" And she looked at me and said,

"No, of course not!" I thought, "Okay. Take this steady." And I got talking to her, and after a while, she said to me, "You know, we always thought there'd be time."

Jim was 94. (Laughter) And I realized that something wasn't happening here. There wasn't this dialogue going on that I imagined was happening. So a group of us started doing survey work, and we looked at four and a half thousand nursing home residents in Newcastle, in the Newcastle area, and discovered that only one in a hundred of them had a plan about what to do when their hearts stopped beating. One in a hundred. And only one in 500 of them had plan about what to do if they became seriously ill. And I realized, of course, this dialogue is definitely not occurring in the public at large.

I'm a lifelong traveler. Even as a little kid, I was actually working out that it would be cheaper to go to boarding school in England than just to the best school down the road from my parents' house in California.

So, from the time I was nine years old I was flying alone several times a year over the North Pole, just to go to school. And of course the more I flew the more I came to love to fly, so the very week after I graduated from high school, I got a job mopping tables so that I could spend every season of my 18th year on a different continent.

And then, almost inevitably, I became a travel writer so my job and my joy could become one.

And I really began to feel that if you were lucky enough to walk around the candlelit temples of Tibet or to wander along the seafronts in Havana with music passing all around you, you could bring those sounds and the high cobalt skies and the flash of the blue ocean back to your friends at home, and really bring some magic and clarity to your own life.

Except, as you all know, one of the first things you learn when you travel is that nowhere is magical unless you can bring the right eyes to it.

You take an angry man to the Himalayas, he just starts complaining about the food. And I found that the best way that I could develop more attentive and more appreciative eyes was, oddly, by going nowhere, just by sitting still.

And of course sitting still is how many of us get what we most crave and need in our accelerated lives, a break. But it was also the only way that I could find to sift through the slideshow of my experience and make sense of the future and the past.

And so, to my great surprise, I found that going nowhere was at least as exciting as going to Tibet or to Cuba.

And by going nowhere, I mean nothing more intimidating than taking a few minutes out of every day or a few days out of every season, or even, as some people do, a few years out of a life in order to sit still long enough to find out what moves you most, to recall where your truest happiness lies and to remember that sometimes making a living and making a life point in opposite directions.

And of course, this is what wise beings through the centuries from every tradition have been telling us.

It's an old idea. More than 2,000 years ago, the Stoics were reminding us it's not our experience that makes our lives, it's what we do with it.

Imagine a hurricane suddenly sweeps through your town and reduces every last thing to rubble. One man is traumatized for life.

But another, maybe even his brother, almost feels liberated, and decides this is a great chance to start his life anew. It's exactly the same event, but radically different responses. There is nothing either good or bad, as Shakespeare told us in "Hamlet," but thinking makes it so.

And this has certainly been my experience as a traveler. Twenty-four years ago I took the most mind-bending trip across North Korea. But the trip lasted a few days.

Hi, everybody. Sunday is Father’s Day. If you haven’t got Dad a gift yet, there’s still time. Just barely. But the truth is, what we give our fathers cannever match what our fathers give us.

I know how important it is to have a dad in your life, because I grew upwithout my father around. I felt the weight of his absence. So for Michelle andour girls, I try every day to be the husband and father my family didn’t havewhen I was young. And every chance I get, I encourage fathers to get moreinvolved in their children’s lives, because what makes you a man isn’t theability to have a child – it’s the courage to raise one.

Still, over the past couple years, I’ve met with a lot of young people whodon’t have a father figure around. And while there’s nothing that can replace aparent, any of us can do our part to be a mentor, a sounding board, a role modelfor a kid who needs one. Earlier this year, I launched an initiative

called My Brother’s Keeper – an all-hands-on-deck effort to help more ofour young men reach their full potential. And if you want to be a mentor to ayoung man in your community, you can find out how /MyBrothersKeeper.

Now, when I launched this initiative, I said that government can’t play theprimary role in a young person’s life. Taking responsibility for being a greatparent or mentor is a choice that we, as individuals, have to make. Nogovernment program can ever take the place of a parent’s love. Still, as acountry, there are ways we can help support dads and moms who make thatchoice.

That’s why, earlier this week, we brought working dads from across Americato the White House to talk about the challenges they face. And in a few weeks,I’ll hold the first-ever White House Working Families Summit. We’ve still gottoo many workplace policies that belong in the 1950s, and it’s time to bringthem up to date for today’s families, where oftentimes, both parents areworking. Moms and dads deserve affordable child care, and time off to care for asick parent or child without running into hardship. Women deserve equal pay forequal work – and at a time when more women

are breadwinners for a family, that benefits men, too. And because noparent who works full-time should have to raise a family in poverty, it’s timefor Congress to follow the lead of state after state, get on the bandwagon, andgive America a raise.

Dads work hard. So our country should do what we can to make sure theirhard work pays off; to make sure life for them and their families is a littleless stressful, and a little more secure, so they can be the dads their kidsneed them to be. Because there’s nothing more precious in life than the time wespend with our children. There’s no better feeling than knowing that we can bethere for them, and provide for them, and help give them every shot atsuccess.

Let’s make sure every dad who works hard and takes responsibility has thechance to know that feeling, not just on one Sunday, but every day of theyear.

Thanks everybody, happy Father’s Day, and have a great weekend.

Everyone has pressure, as long as you have things done or to heart, the pressure will go unnoticed in the attachment in the man's body, cause all sorts of "symptoms", for example: can't sleep, reduce appetite, or in a bad mood... And so on.

My pressure is not home after finish homework can't write, often busy to midnight; Dad's pressure is accounting work done; Mother's pressure because he was a career woman, a candle burning at both ends and worry can't give attention to both family and work is good, and her sister's pressure is myopic degree increased very fast, it is difficult to control.

Pressure are not necessarily bad, there are also some is good. The rules in our class, for example: not diligent student didn't change class will not be able to finish homework, because of the pressure, a heartbreaker for these people, finally they decided to change my homework finished, also get real learning, no longer look for excuses to slack off. So the pressure is often motivates us go forward.

Large and small pressure exists in our life, we should be appropriate to adjust the mood, the pressure into power, so as to let the life become more colorful.

Campus safety relates to our lives and learning potential safety problems have as many as 20 kinds、including traffic accidents、poisoning、fire fire、drowning、sports injury and so on. These are at times a threat to the healthy growth of young students. According to statistics、every year our country has around 16、000 unnatural deaths in the primary、elementary and middle school students because of safety accidents、food poisoning、drowning and other deaths、the average has more than 40 people every day、that is to say every day there will be a class of students at "disappeared." Conflict with the people must bear in mind:the broader picture.

Teacher and fellow students、only one person's life. A collision、a wrestling are probably the lives of vulnerable people's hard to imagine the harm caused. Therefore want to protect their own safety、we comply with the minimum required、the most simple rules and order. Let us bear in mind:human life、safety first!Let us work together to create a harmonious campus、campus safety!

The judges dear colleagues:

Everybody is good!

I believe that not long ago the unit of organization training to everyone left a deep impression that are in high altitude timid to conquer yourself after the joy of encouragement and warm embrace together to complete the project after the excited tears dribs and drabs are so vivid and real stayed in our memory forever. Flow through the sweat and tears we can understand the what?

From the beginning my team is faced with many difficulties: older on average physical quality is bad the heart not neat team such as fragmented... Therefore we wryly his team named "sunset". Still we devote and participation in gradually found that team's weakness overcome difficulties strengthen communication and cooperation at the same time of brave to challenge themselves a concerted effort to complete each project.

In big bully game our feet together formed the containment the players have different walking speed bad grasp rhythm we walked so hard. Any error the team cannot be further. Us against each other from the original suspicion eventually realized that to complete the project the heart want to go to one place time to go to one place. We try to roll up the arm to form a whole we shouted rhythm slowly have the tacit understanding try to be consistent pace although difficult but insist on comes to an end. In our understanding expand training for first as long as everyone in the team to be able to devote to complete each project has been a great success!

And escape the walls of the project is completed let me see the potential of everyone in the group of excitation and a collective work need the tacit understanding and sacrifice. Initially for all 70 individuals in the case of can't talk to climb over 4 meters high wall of escape 2 I was skeptical I think even a person to climb this wall is impossible. When have I the idea of people may not be in the minority. In the hesitation we according to the coach teaching method into action but because the teams who violated the rules not only to stop by the coach also let the chief generation we are being punished. The drizzle our mood become very heavy involuntarily shed a tear. Second everyone seemed to have the tacit understanding pull up a ladder and protective wall and do you remember the rules no longer talk clapping laughing concentrate on what we want to do together act quickly. First up 10 best efforts of the colleagues below build a ladder with colleagues endured the pain of shoulder and legs everyone in the mind only one idea: we took a ship to sink must help all players within the given time climb walls to escape!

This process the prism is sacrifice and cooperate. A team must be someone in silently sacrifice but the pay all the players look in the eyes in mind. Individual's success is not the success of the team only a smooth over all is the real victory so we must put our heads together in the most efficient the most appropriate way to the end of the day a colleague over the past to this end everyone to his own effort. After the completion of the project the coach announced we took only a quarter of the time at that moment everybody finally tasted the joy of victory.

From training I also realized that each person all the time since birth not grow in the team oneself is a member of the collective the first thing to give full play to their potential trying to do their work to strengthen coordination play to their ability to innovate. Second the development of the team is the real development. Encounter a problem must focus on the wisdom of the whole team to form a unified plan then according to the plan implementation adjustment method and strategy in time to be the best. Third will not give up speaking out of turn strengthen the courage and perseverance believe you can do it. The fourth is to learn the perspective-taking standing in the other person's point of view for others change an Angle to think more understanding and more caring.

In our successful challenge behind each project from beginning to end is the common effort of all our players. We are a whole only trust each other support each other make oneself should do a good job in every step of the way can our collective into a rich combat effectiveness the execution of the team.

Through this training activities let I to team consciousness and personal role in the team feeling to the deep. If from the activities of the comprehension to the reasonable use of in the future work we believe that our tomorrow will be better our team will be more powerful and perfect!
