關於兒童的英語

International Children's Day就是指“六一”國際兒童節。你知道嗎?其實一年之中有兩個“兒童節”的。除了“六一”國際兒童節之外，還有聯合國教科文組織發起的“兒童節”—— 11月20日的國際兒童日 (Universal Children's Day)。

既然今天是兒童節，那麼我們就來學習一些跟兒童(child)有關的單詞。

child n. 兒童，小孩 例如：child abuse(虐待兒童)，child labour(童工)

children：children是child的複數形式。例如：children's playground (兒童樂園)

childish adj. ① 孩子氣的，孩子所特有的

eg：The little girl spoke in a high childish voice. 這個小女孩用尖尖的童聲講話。

②【貶】幼稚的，傻氣的

eg：Crying for things you can't have is childish. 想要的東西得不到就哭是孩子氣的表現。

childlike adj. 天真的;童稚的;孩子般的

例如：Though nearly at the age of fifty, he still retains childlike innocence.

他雖年近半百，但仍童心未泯。

childhood n. 童年，兒童時代

例如：They were childhood sweethearts. 他們原是青梅竹馬的戀人。

childbearing/childbirth n. 分娩，生孩子

eg：A period of acute depression can sometimes follow childbirth/childbearing.

分娩之後可能會有一段時間的急性抑鬱期。

還有一些與child有關的英語表達

要提醒大家特別注意的是，單詞“child 兒童”的複數形式是“children”。所以，如果要說“我有一個孩子”的話，應該說“I have a child”而不是“I have a children”。
