奧運志願者是奧運會的推動力量，協助每一項運動的開展，幫助來自世界各地的觀眾和遊客。巴塞羅那奧運會有志願者34548人，亞特蘭大奧運會有60422人，悉尼奧運會有47000人，每一屆背後都離不開他們的辛勤付出。

雅典的志願者專案從XX年開始，共有16萬人申請4萬5千個崗位。最後，志願者中有11%來自國外，包括400名澳大利亞人(上屆奧運會主辦國)。身著黃衣藍褲的自願者無所不在，成為本屆奧運會一道靚麗的風景線。
