And seventeen years later, I did go to college, but I chose a college that was almost as expensive as Stanford, and all of my working-class parents' savings were being spent on my collegeAfter six months, I couldn't see the value in it. I had no idea what I wanted to do with my life, and no idea of how college was going to help me and here I was, spending all the money my parents had saved their entire life. So I decided to drop out and trust that it would all work out OK. It was pretty scary at the time, but looking back, it was one of the best decisions I ever made. The minute I dropped out, I could stop taking the required classes that didn't interest me and begin dropping in on the ones that looked far more interesting.
It wasn't all romantic. I didn't have a dorm room, so I slept on the floor in friends' rooms. I returned Coke bottles for the five-cent deposits to buy food with, and I would walk the seven miles across town every Sunday night to get one good meal a week at the Hare Krishna temple. I loved it. And much of what I by following my turned out to be priceless later on. Let me give you one example.

Today I want to tell you three stories from my life. That's it. No big deal. Just three stories. The first story is about connecting the dots.
I dropped out of Reed College after the first six months but then stayed around as a drop-in for another eighteen months or so before I really quit. So why did I drop out? It started before I was born. My was a young, unwed graduate student, and she decided to put me up for adoption. She felt very strongly that I should be adopted by college graduates, so everything was all set for me to be adopted at birth by a lawyer and his wife, except that when I popped out, they decided at the last minute that they really wanted a girl. So my parents, who were on a waiting list, got a call in the middle of the night asking, "We've got an unexpected baby boy. Do you want him?" They said, "Of course." My biological mother found out later that my mother had never graduated from college and that my father had never graduated from high school. She refused to sign the final adoption papers. She only relented a few months later when my parents promised that I would go to college.

本學期以來，本人認真研究學生，關注學生，研究課標，梳理知識結構，有計劃地落實複習計劃，順利地完成了教育教學任務。現將本學期教學工作評價如下：
一、進行了英語學情分析。
本學期本人繼續擔任高三年級普通班高三(5)班的英語課，本班學生自高一以來學生基礎就很差，在基礎知識上，本人進行‘亡羊補牢’但為時已晚矣，在一、二年級時期末考試有個把及格的，也都選入A班，所以一向以來，本人所帶的班中期末考試很難見到有學生上90分以上，大多學生的考分都是在20分以上至60分以下，少部分學生在85分段以下至60分。幾乎所有學生都感到學習英語都是異常難的，主要原因是他們幾乎記不了最簡單的單詞，語法也沒基礎，所以對英語學習異常頭疼。教師講課聽不懂，所以厭學情緒嚴重，學習態度上也不正，上課睡覺、搞小動作、玩手機遊戲等現象不時出現，英語成績難以提高。所以開學之初本人既對本班學情進行了認真細緻的分析。在本學期日常教學中認真落實因材施教和因人施教的的措施。本學期各方面情景才得以改觀。
二、把教學計劃落到實處。
本年度教學工作重心即在進行基礎知識的複習上鞏固和加深對基礎知識的理解和掌握，提升期解決問題的本事，所以教學工作安排上把重心放在了對課本知識的複習上。三輪複習中，首輪複習資料是九年級英語課本，高一年級課本22個單元，高二年級課本二十個單元。對這些資料的複習主要是：大學聯考常用單詞、短語，主要句型，基礎語法等。平時複習中把高中英語複習語法專案中的十三個專題適當融合進去。經過練習和講解，增強學生對語法的理解和對英語用法的複習鞏固。
三、很多練習促進學生對基礎知識的鞏固和本事的提高。
課本複習是學生本事提高的關鍵。從開學之初即對課本知識點認真歸納和評價，經過練習的形式進行學習反饋。金版新學案《高三總複習》的運用是今年教學工作的一大幸事。人教修訂版大學聯考複習版金版新學案《高三總複習》成了學生的良師，也成了我英語教學中的益友。無論是單元複習還是高中英語知識點專題訓練都是題目中的精品。我立足於新學案《高三總複習》，認認真真地把握好教學工作中的練習環節。
四、聽力訓練是作好提高成績保障。
首先，我把從網上整理的高中課本和單詞mp3拷貝到學生的mp3或mp4裡，引導他們把娛樂工具當作學習的有力幫手。其次是用好學校統一訂來的整套《維克多英語整套聽力訓練》本人要求學生充分利用在課上或課下時間進行聽力訓練。再加上本人利用教室裡的多媒體播放一些趣味的用簡單英語對話的外國英文版動畫故事給學生看，大大提高學生的學習興趣，英語聽力也有必須的提高。
五、擴大閱讀，培養英語本事。
課外閱讀必不可少，這學期高三金版新學案《高三總複習》為班級三分之二的學生擴大了自我的眼界。金版新學案《高三總複習》裡面的訓練閱讀理解題兼顧新聞、娛樂、科技、學校、地道美文等多方面資料。個別成績比較好的學生把這些精彩的文章當作範文來朗讀背誦。這不僅僅提高了學生的學習興趣，也豐富和開拓了學生的視野。
六、注重學生英語作文的訓練，推薦學生優秀作品。
本學期對學生的英語作文儘量進行面批，每次月考後，不但給出參考範文，同時也選出學生中的優秀作文進行賞識和點評，這種做法能夠在必須程度上鼓舞了學生的英語學習的進取性。
七、加強學習，努力提升自身的素質
進取聽課、評課，虛心向同行學習。與教研組的教師討論教育教學方法，博採眾長，提高教學水平。瀏覽相關網站，蒐集相關資料，不斷擴寬知識面，為教學資料注入新鮮血液。
以上只是對自我過去一個學期的教育教學工作的回顧，既有成功的經驗也有值得思考的教訓。
新的一年即將開始，我會更加努力地完善自我，進取地和高三備課組的同事們高效地完成教學任務。為20__屆大學聯考的學生創造更新的至高點而努力!
在上課時，教師應勇於“讓位”給學生
新課標強調：學生是學習的主人，教師是學習的組織者、引導者與合作者。為此，教師要改變以往教學中“滿堂灌”、“一言堂”、而要勇敢地“讓位”，勇敢地把課堂還給學生，勇敢地把學習的主動權交給學生。
整堂課，經過畫畫引導孩子去學英語、說英語，用畫畫把孩子的思維得以最大限度的展開，他們你一言，我一語地交流著並且互相傾聽著，碰撞著，從由一個單詞到一個句子，最終成一篇小文章。而我只是作為一個引導者，鼓勵學生用自我的思維去探索，用自我的語言去表達、交流。我想：僅有這樣，教師才能算是整正地“讓位”，才能算是讓學生從真正意義上進行自主學習。也僅有教師這樣真正地“讓位”，孩子們的學習，才會是那麼的投入、那麼的主動、那麼的進取!
